K52 is situated in an ambitious neighborhood that is vibrant, trending and setting a new pace for tomorrow

K52 was that unexplored mountain of bricks right next door that we wanted to climb.
We took on the adventurous building journey in 2012 with a genuine desire to carefully and thoroughly renovate a house that was originally built in the thirties, with an honest, personal and unique touch.

Together with creative architects we chose for an approach and a design that carefully balances space, personal comfort and interior decoration with the use of enduring and ecofriendly techniques and materials.
All the construction works were carried out precisely by an experienced and acknowledged building company. All the building materials that were used and devices that were installed are energy saving and ecofriendly.
Everything was done according to all the safety rules and every regulation and prescription by the local building and safety authorities.

In the summer of 2013 we successfully conquered the mountain. Today it has been transformed into a new, modern and comfortable residential building. It houses two flats that were carefully designed for the every needs of a short stay in a city of the 21st century.

Where?

K52 is barely a five-minute walk away from the Antwerp Central Railway Station.  It is situated in the heart of an inspiring district. It has become part of an ambitious neighborhood that is vibrant, trending and setting a new pace for tomorrow.

You will find K52 in the Kerkstraat 52 in 2060 Antwerpen, close to the Borgerhout district and right at the edge of the Sint-Willibrordusplein, underneath the church tower.

Mobility?

(Inter)national:

– All Belgian trains, Thalys, TGV, Eurostar, etc.: through the Antwerp Central Railway Station.
– City Airport Deurne. (5 km) Offering daily flights to London City and Manchester.
– International flights: Brussels Airport (Zaventem). (50 km)

Trips within the city of Antwerp go the quickest using the public city transportation system (trams and/or buses). Tickets can be purchased in nearly every convenience store or in news shops. Depending on traffic, trams 10, 11 (or 24) will take you to the city in less than 15 minutes. There is a tram station very close to K52 on the Turnhoutsebaan.

Bus 23 has a stop in the Kerkstraat and will take you to the trendy Southside.

Antwerp also offers you the choice of using city bikes. These bikes are easy to use, comfortable and designed for intensive use in the city, for young and old, for men and women. They are available through the Velo-Antwerpen network. Day and week passes for these bikes can be purchased on line. There is a bike station in the square at the doorstep of K52. Visit: https://www.velo-antwerpen.be/

Should you however prefer to drive a car in and out of Antwerp there are a number of nearby exits. The city traffic, especially during rush hour, may cause delays. Nearly everywhere in Antwerp parking space is scarce, often difficult to find and if you find one, parking fees are standard.

Groceries

There are two small supermarkets very close by. Carrefour Express and Maman. They have nearly all the basic products.

Maman also offers a number of Mediterranean products.
If however you have more time for grocery shopping, be sure to visit the Saturday afternoon and/or Sunday morning markets in the theater square in the city.

On Friday mornings there is a small market in the square nearby (Het Laar)

For fresh oven baked wholesome bread and buns, warm croissants and the best Belgian pastry on earth… there are plenty of bakeries in this neighborhood and many of them are truly excellent.

If you have your mind set on fish, meat, poultry or venison… Criée is a large indoor market place and widely renowned for its excellent quality. Criée is within walking distance.

For most oriental specialties we recommend the largest Asian supermarket in Antwerp: Sun Wah. You’ll find it, again, within walking distance.

Restaurants

There are a number of restaurants and snacks in the vicinity or in the square right at the doorstep of K52.

For breakfast we will be glad to show you the way to Local Store on the Turnhoutsebaan.

For lunch or dinner there is De Druiventros. You will find it in the square right outside K52. They have a most wonderful summer garden terrace in the back. De Druiventros is a most enjoyable brasserie, serving honest and really delicious food. https://www.zone03.be/wca_digi/resto_detail/53/51916/Druiventros.html

Also in the same square there is Brasserie Duval. You’ll find it opposite De Druiventros. The food there is equally well.

Are you in a hurry? You have the choice between two fastfood take aways.
One is Frituur 2010 (= take away Belgian fries.)

The other one is Het Fonteintje, serving surprisingly tasty Mediterranean snacks in no time. https://www.fonteintje-antwerpen.be/

Relax

Just looking for a drink or a delicious Belgian beer? Be sure to stop by café De Kroon underneath the church tower. De Kroon is a renowned café. Its name and fame reaches far beyond the district.

An alternative for De Kroon is Café Mombassa in the Borgerhout district. It is situated in the square called Moorkensplein and within walking distance. Café Mombassa is a place for music and cycling lovers. It’s a wonderful haven if you are looking for a fresh beer and a nice chat with the locals. With a bit of luck, you just might enjoy a live-band playing there.

The list of what you can find within walking or cycling distance in this neighborhood to relax is pretty long.

For a pick nick in the park or your daily run, we recommend Park Spoor Noord. The 24 hectares of green are no doubt the park to visit.

Looking for a swimming pool? The municipal swimming pool Plantijn-Moretus is the closest by.
